Responsible AI

AI Principles

Last updated: October 2, 2026

We build with senior engineers and AI agents working together. These principles set out how we use AI on your project, and what you can count on from us. The detailed rules our team follows are in our AI Usage Policy.

1. People stay accountable

AI agents do much of the hands-on work on our projects, but people make the decisions. Senior engineers own the architecture, the key decisions, security, and every production release.

Every change an AI agent makes is reviewed by an engineer before it ships, and a senior QA engineer tests each release end to end. Our engineers are responsible for every line of code we deliver, whoever or whatever wrote it first.

2. Your data stays yours

We use AI providers only through business or API plans whose terms say they don't use our inputs to train their models. Your code, documents, and data are not used to train anyone's AI.

Our team never puts passwords, API keys, or other secrets, or your customers' personal data, into an AI tool. When your data can't leave your infrastructure at all, we can run open-weight models on your own servers instead.

3. No hidden AI

You can always know which AI tools and models work on your project. Just ask, and we'll tell you.

It's your choice, too. If you'd rather we didn't use AI on your project, or on part of it, we'll work without it or use private models you control.

4. Security by default

Our AI agents work inside a sandboxed harness, with access only to what a task needs. AI tools are used through company-managed accounts, never personal ones, and access is removed when someone leaves the team.

Authentication, data handling, and payments are reviewed by a senior engineer before every launch.

5. Quality you can rely on

AI speeds up the work; it doesn't lower the bar. Every change goes through two-step review (an AI reviewer checks it, a senior engineer approves it), and automated tests run on the critical paths of every build.

We check AI-generated code so that nothing with an incompatible licence ends up in your product.

6. You own the result

Using AI changes nothing about ownership. The code, the designs, and all intellectual property are yours, and everything lives in your repository and your cloud accounts from day one.

7. Always improving

AI tools change fast, and so do the risks. We review these principles and our AI Usage Policy at least once a year, and sooner when something important changes.
